Sonny Miller here, your helpful car guy. I want to tell you about one of the things we do: we specialize in buying Toyota Sequoias here in Southern California. The Sequoia is the top of the line of what Toyota puts out, a real workhorse, and we make selling yours easy. I answer the phone myself, because when you call you should get the guy who actually shows up, not a runaround. So if you want a free quote or just some advice on your Sequoia, give me a call at (714) 900-3723. If not, keep reading and I’ll show you how I work.
We Specialize in Older Sequoias
When a dealership turns you away because your Sequoia’s too old, that’s exactly who we’re here for. We buy the older ones, and these trucks run forever, so age and high miles don’t scare us off. You get paid however you want, cash, Zelle, Cash App, check, or wire transfer, whatever you prefer. And we come to you, usually within hours. The Sequoia is one of the Toyotas I buy the most, and if you want to see the whole lineup I work with, here’s every Toyota I buy across SoCal.
How It Works
I try to make this as simple as anything on the web. There’s really two ways to start:
- Fill out the contact form on our homepage. I read every one personally and usually get back to you within 10 to 15 minutes.
- Or just call me directly. I pick up myself, or a family member does, and you give me a quick rundown of your Sequoia and what shape it’s in.
The whole call takes no more than five minutes, and I give you a quote right over the phone. Here’s the kind of thing I’ll ask:
- How many miles does it have?
- Is there any damage?
- Is it a clean title or a salvage title?
- Any problems with it you know of?
That’s it. Based on your answers, I give you a price on the spot. Then I come meet you within hours, and as long as the Sequoia is the way you described it on the phone, I stick to my price and pick it up. Simple.
You’re not getting the runaround here, no “we’ll call you back tomorrow,” no getting passed through four or five people, no press 1, press 8, press 0 for the operator. We answer as soon as we see the call and we keep it easy. I think we’ve got the simplest form out there, and our response time is fast.
What I Look at on a Sequoia
These are big, heavy trucks, so the weight shows up in a few spots. I’m just telling you what I know so you know where yours stands before you even pick up the phone. None of this stuff stops the deal with me, by the way.
First thing I’d check is the front suspension. There was a recall on the front suspension joints, and those can let go at freeway speed, which is about as bad as it gets, so do yourself a favor and run your VIN through the free recall lookup to make sure yours got taken care of. After that, the exhaust manifolds like to crack a little over time. You’ll hear it, it’s a ticking when you start it up, and a lot of times it quiets down once the engine warms up.
The brakes are another one. The truck’s so heavy that the front brakes go quicker than you’d think, and the caliper hardware likes to seize up, especially if it’s been driven hard. And if your ABS light and your traction control light pop on together, nine times out of ten that’s a sensor down under the center console. Toyota wants a lot for that part, but if you’re handy it’s something you can throw in yourself with basic tools.
Like I said, none of that ruins the deal for me. Just tell me what yours has going on and I’ll work it into the offer.
The Sequoias We Buy
Beyond all that, here’s the stuff I take all day long:
- Faded paint, body damage, or dents
- It’s not starting (could just be a battery, and I won’t take advantage of that, I’ll get it started with you and still give you a fair offer)
- A salvage title, that’s not a problem with us
- Older ones with high miles
What goes into my offer is the actual used-car market value, what these really sell for, nothing made up. And we keep it convenient: you don’t fill out a bunch of paperwork. When I get there, I walk you through it, simple, fast, and done.
