Got a Ford truck you’re ready to sell? Whether it’s an F-150 that’s still pulling its weight, an F-250 work truck, or a Super Duty that’s seen better days, I buy them. Sonny Miller here, and I purchase the whole F-Series, F-150 through F-450, running or not. I pay cash, or Zelle, Cash App, wire transfer, or check, whatever you prefer, and I come to you across Southern California, usually within hours.
I serve all of Orange County, plus Los Angeles County and the San Fernando Valley, so wherever you are, call or text me at (714) 900-3723 and I’ll take care of you personally.
How We Work
You Talk to Me, Not a Call Center
When you call, you get me or one of my close family members, not a machine and not “press zero for an operator.” I answer personally, and I read every contact request myself, usually within minutes. None of it goes to a third party.
The phone call is simple. I’ll ask if your F-150 is running and driving, how many miles it has, whether there’s any damage, and if it’s a clean or salvage title. That’s it. From there, you get your price right over the phone.
The Price I Quote Is the Price I Pay
A lot of my customers tell me about other buyers who quote one number on the phone, then show up and lowball them with a whole different story. I don’t play those games. So as long as everything checks out the way you described it, I stick to the price I gave you.
Now, if there’s something major going on that you didn’t know about, I’ll walk you through it and factor it into the offer honestly. But that’s me working with you about a real issue, not pulling a fast one. When we agree, it takes less than 15 minutes, and you get paid on the spot.
Your Information Stays With Me
Here’s something else that matters. Your information stays with me. I don’t sell it, and I don’t take kickbacks or affiliate money from other companies, so even when I point you somewhere else because your truck isn’t the right fit, I’ve got no angle. I’m a Southern California resident, just like you. You’re not calling some out-of-state outfit with a 1-800 number where you press zero and get passed around to four different people, or somebody in a faraway call center who’s never even seen an F-150 in person. You’re talking to a local guy who knows these trucks.
Common Ford F-Series Problems by Generation
I’ve been buying these trucks for over 20 years, so I know what tends to go wrong on each one. None of it stops me from making a deal, I just factor it into a fair offer. Here’s the honest rundown.
The Gas V8s (the Triton Era)
The 5.4-liter Triton has a well-known spark plug story, and it splits by year. On the older trucks from 1997 to 2003, there weren’t enough threads in the head, so a plug could actually blow out while you were driving. Then on the 2004 to 2008 three-valve engines, Ford used a two-piece plug that tends to break off inside the head when you go to remove it. A normal plug change is only a few hundred bucks, but once they start snapping off, a shop has to extract them and the bill can climb past $800 or $1,000. Those same three-valve trucks can also get a cam phaser rattle on cold starts. None of that stops me from buying one.
The EcoBoost Trucks (2011 and Up)
The first 3.5 EcoBoost trucks, from 2011 to 2014, had a couple of quirks. The intercooler could collect moisture in humid weather, and under hard throttle it would get pulled into the engine and cause a misfire or stumble. They also build up carbon over time and can develop a timing chain or cam phaser rattle, that “marbles in a can” sound on a cold start. Fixing the phasers and timing set runs most shops $3,000 to $4,500. Ford cleaned most of that up with the redesigned engine in 2017, but I buy them from any year.
The Super Duty Diesels
If you’ve got a diesel, the engine tells the story. The 7.3 Power Stroke from 1999 to 2003 is legendary and runs about forever. The 6.0 from 2003 to 2007 is the problem child, known for head gaskets, EGR coolers, and oil coolers, where one issue quickly turns into another. A proper head gasket job on a 6.0, done right with studs, runs anywhere from $3,500 to $6,500 around here. The 6.4 from 2008 to 2010 got expensive to keep up because of its emissions system, and the 6.7 from 2011 on is a much more solid truck. Whatever you’ve got, blown or running, I’ll make you an offer.
The V10 Gas Trucks
The 6.8 V10 is a workhorse that’ll go hundreds of thousands of miles, though it drinks plenty of fuel doing it. One thing to know about these and the F-Series in general: they’re the single most targeted truck in the country for catalytic converter theft, because they sit up high and the converters are big and full of precious metal. The V10’s converter is an especially valuable one, and replacing it here in California runs about $2,800 to $3,600, since the state requires the pricier CARB-approved unit. I’ll come back to that in a second.
And no matter the engine or the year, it’s worth running your VIN through the NHTSA recall lookup or Ford’s official recall page to see if anything’s still open.
A Couple of Trucks I’ve Bought
After 20 years, I’ve bought just about every kind of F-Series out there, in every condition. Let me give you two real ones.
A customer up in Northridge called me about a 1999 F-250 with the V10. Somebody had stolen the catalytic converter right off it. On the big Ford trucks like that, the converter is what the recyclers call a “torpedo,” a long, capsule-shaped unit loaded with way more precious metal than a normal one, so thieves go after them hard, especially on a truck that already sits up high and easy to slide under. Nobody else would touch it in that shape. So I gave him a fair offer and did the deal, simple and even, because a missing converter doesn’t stop me from buying a good truck.
Another time, down in Garden Grove, an elderly lady called me about her 2004 F-150. It was in great shape with low miles, but she wanted to keep the camper shell in case she bought another truck someday, and she couldn’t get it off herself. So that’s where I come in. We made the deal, I pulled the camper shell off for her and set it right in her garage, and she was happy. That’s the kind of thing I’m glad to help with.
No matter which F-Series you’ve got, running or not, I’ll come to you and make a fair offer. And if you’ve got a different Ford, I buy every kind of Ford across Southern California.
What F-150 Owners Say
I’ve bought a lot of these trucks, so here’s what a few of those owners had to say.
“I just sold my F-150. Sonny was great, very honest, and kept his word on the price.” — Hector V.
“My work truck needed a lot of maintenance and had a check engine light I didn’t want to deal with on my F-150. I called, they came the same day and paid cash. I recommend them to anyone.” — Ray M.
“Sonny was great, and the offer on the truck was very fair. Same-day cash and pickup.” — Chris G.
Rather Sell It Yourself?
That’s totally fine, and I’ll still help you out. If you’d rather go the private-party route, give me a call and I’ll walk you through the whole thing, including the new way of selling a car online, with no strings attached. I even put together a full guide on selling your car private party you can read anytime. And if you decide it’s more hassle than it’s worth, I’m just a phone call away.
Frequently Asked Questions About Selling a Ford F-Series Truck
Do you buy Super Duty trucks like the F-250 and F-350?
Yes, the whole Super Duty lineup, F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550, gas or diesel. Work trucks, high miles, lifted, none of it stops me from making a fair offer.
Will you buy my F-150 if it has a blown engine or doesn’t run?
Every time. A blown EcoBoost, a 6.0 diesel with head gasket trouble, or a no-start, I buy them all. I bring what I need to load it up and pay you on the spot.
Do you buy trucks with a stolen catalytic converter?
Yes, and I see it a lot on F-Series trucks. A missing converter doesn’t stop me. I’ll still give you a fair offer and come pick it up.
Do you buy diesel Super Duty trucks?
Absolutely. The 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, and 6.7 Power Stroke, running or not. If the diesel’s tired or already gone, I still want the truck.
